It was suggested by Elizabeth that next year the budget be prepared in advance of the beginning of the year.

Vocational Service:

Business Week: We have been asked to participate in a week-long experience for senior business students.  Teachers were apparently against the program because the students who participate have trouble catching up and it is restricted to only a small number of students.  Kathy is going to get more information on the program.

Middle School Career Fairs:  Kathy reported that she was not getting as much participation as she would like.

International Service:

We have received formal notice that we will be receiving a matching grant from RI for the Charoen Nakorn/Edmonds water project in Thailand.

The Rabour Village water project is going forward in Kenya with the help of Loyce Mbewa.

Community Service:

Rod reported that the holiday shopping with the kids was taking place on 12/04/2004.  Elizabeth mentioned that Jenna would be returning that same day.

Meena will be taking over the Fall Fund Raising for Rotary First Harvest.

Sally mentioned that the Edmonds Food Bank will need help on 12/13/2004 and 12/14/2004 because they are giving out double portions.

Club Service:

Alex is “shadowing” Warren to get more involved with the scholarship program.

The holiday party on th12/15/2004 has gotten a great response.

Membership:

Mike Frantz was approved by the board for potential membership sponsored by Don Henderson.  Karen mentioned that other clubs finish there whole meeting in an hour rather than the 90 minutes that we take. She postulated that this was a negative for new members.

Waterfront Festival:

Karen reported that the Port of Edmonds would not allow the 2005 Waterfront Festival to take place the weekend before Memorial Day so it is baclk to June 3,4,&5, 2005.  She indicated that it was still viable to change the time for 2006.

Old Business:

It was agreed that Scott Akers, Maiya Alward, Adam Cobb, Rex Klein, John Richardson, and Danyo Syouum would be eliminated from the club membership. They all were contacted regarding their situation and  they are invited to come back if their personal situation made it possible to become a Rotarian at a later time.

New Business:

It was agreed that a letter as drafted by Vern and Elizabeth be sent to the Port of Edmonds regarding the Weather Station project that has been in the works for a number of years.

Pat Shields has proposed to the Board that he would publish the Backwash for free if we would use the funds that his company would have charged us to fund a scholarship program for the guardian ad litem kids.  This proposal was passed unanimously by the Board.

Meeting was adjourned at 9:05am
