ROTARY CLUB OF EDMONDS
BOARD OF DIRECTORS'  SPECIAL MEETING

 FOLLOWING THE CLUB MEETING OF TUESDAY APRIL 22, 2003

Board members present:  Carl Swenson, Brent Hagen, Sally Hyde, Pat Thorpe, Rudy Jones, Elizabeth
Crouch, Vern Chase, Bill Moran

Guest present:   George Beckett, David Stires

The meeting was called to with Pat Thorpe as presenter.  She has as her guest
Lani Doely from the Seattle Times.  Lani made an extensive presentation of the several sources for advertising our festival.  She offer three options  which would be available to us--Option A, Option B, Option C.  (if you wish to see these, ask the secretary to do so).  Discussion was conducted regarding each of the options She stated the costs involved in each and the possible discounts or free items that could be obtained with each.  She stated that the Target Market is Snohomish Co.

Pat detailed some of the costs we have:  Enterprise, $500; Posters, $500; distribution, $220.  We get free posters from the Carnival and free Radio from
Warm 106.9.  Craig gets press releases to various free sources.  Our basic commitment now is $l,200.  In years passed it was $300 to $600 for radio ads.

Lani stated that their readership in Sno. Co. has increased by 91,000.  She stated that the more times we run our ads the more attention gained. 

Cost of 1/2 page on Thursday would be $l,200  B/W   3 ads in a row gets a discount.
1 ad in "Ticket" = $519.90  1/2 Page 3 x 10 or 5 x 6
1/4 page = $1,800 in "Ticket"  2 x 7 1/2  plus a free ad

Vern asked what we can get for $1,700.
It must run both Thursdays the 22 and 29th

Sally surveyed those members present with Option B as amended to 1/4 page
running the above dates with a cost of approx.  $1,600 to $1,700.   Vern moved
Carl seconded approval of this motion.  Motion Passed
