It was suggested that each sub-chair have a person shadow them in order to learn the job. The Waterfront Budget committee (Joel, Larry, Kathy, Libby, Frank and Matt) will meet as soon as possible to go over the budget. All expenditures must go through the committee to be approved.
Vern reminded the committee that publicity includes street banners, posters, lawn signs and will need other sub-chairs to handle them. Bill Vance will look into costs to make sandwich boards. Doug Purcell will check with City of Edmonds about sandwich board. Places to put up street banners were discussed. Suggestions were Ace Hardware and Bill Vance’s house at 4th and Pine. We will still do the insert in the Enterprise and Herald. Vern also mentioned new media options such as facebook and other electronic options. We also need 20 more lawn signs.
The Waterfront Festival 5K Run/Walk is in the planning stages.
The hours of operation for the Festival are:
Friday 3 p.m. to 10 p.m.
Saturday 11 a.m. to 10 p.m.
Sunday 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Kathy was asked to get the liquor license to extend to 11 p.m. both Friday and Saturday night and 8 p.m. on Sunday.
The contract with the Port will be discussed on February 11th at the Port. We need the support of the yacht Club for the festival. We still don’t know if we will have a parking lot or not. Jim Welch will work on it.
Craig reported that we have the same beer vendor as last year, that the sponsor contracts have gone out, Kiss 106 radio station is coming. He is planning on a video/arcade for teens. He as lined up the Beatnicks for Friday night and Charles White for Sunday night. It was suggested that we have Hells Bells for Saturday. Marla is working on the classic yachts again this year.
Next meeting will be set after the Waterfront Budget Committee meeting.
