2009-2010
There are two District managers for grants; Elizabeth Crouch
(synergems@comcast.net)
for the International grants and Duane Ruud
(dsg@rotary5030.org ) for Domestic grants. The forms for funding are usually
not available until around October which is somewhat unusual since the funds are
supposed to be spent within the current Rotary year. However, the spending
deadline is not strictly adhered to.
The apparent philosophy by the District is that Rotary club officers change
every year and thus they wouldn't make up their mind for several months as to
what they would be spending their money for. Hopefully our club can think beyond
the end of the club year because the president elect is a member of the board
and should be capable of making objections should he disagree with funding which
will fall within his term of office. This is not unique since our club has made
commitments running for more than one year before: Kenya scholarships and
Trinity Place.
On the other hand, the guidelines for 2009-2010 indicate that no funding will be
granted until all applications are received. This results in a delay governed by
the slowest club. When the distribution is made, no further funds are available
until the following Rotary year.
This may be complicated because if we need to join with two more clubs to meet
the minimum $3500 ($1200 each proposed) to be eligible for matching grants.
